Illegal Migrants Lockdown NM School, Raise Safety Fears

Ah, the never-ending saga of illegal immigrants causing chaos continues, this time infiltrating a middle school in New Mexico. The Gadsden Independent School District had to deal with not one, but two lockdowns because some migrants thought it would be a brilliant idea to use the school as a hideout from the Border Patrol. Can you believe the audacity?

Superintendent Travis Dempsey must have been shaking his head in disbelief as he confirmed that these incidents happened. The first intrusion occurred on March 20, with another one following on March 27 that led to the arrest of six migrants. Good on the Border Patrol for catching them, but it’s alarming that a school had to go into lockdown because of these lawbreakers. Thank goodness for vigilant law enforcement officers!

It’s plain to see that these migrants have zero regard for the safety of our children. Parents and guardians rightfully expressed their concerns about the potential harm their kids could face due to these reckless actions. Maria Gallegos, a concerned parent in the Gadsden ISD, hit the nail on the head when she worried about what these migrants might do in their desperation to evade arrest. It’s a sad state of affairs when families have to fear for their children’s safety at school because of the reckless actions of illegal immigrants.

On the bright side, it’s reassuring to know that the school has a resource officer on campus from the Sunland Park Police Department. It’s a shame they have to deal with this nonsense instead of focusing solely on education. Customs and Border Patrol spokesperson Refugio Corrales shed some light on the situation, explaining how migrants in the area often try to evade arrest, sometimes without even knowing where they’re heading. It’s like a game of cat and mouse, except it’s our schools and communities that are being used as pawns.

Kudos to the school for ramping up security measures with the use of security cameras. Let’s hope these tools help in preventing any more unwelcome visits from migrants trying to use the school as a pit stop in their illegal journey. The safety of our children should always come first, and it’s high time these lawless migrants learn that our schools are off-limits for their unlawful activities. Let’s keep our schools safe and secure from those who choose to disregard our laws and put our children at risk.
