The mainstream media may be attempting to knock him down, but former President Donald Trump is only rising higher in popularity among conservative voters! In fact, the latest criminal indictment of President Trump has done nothing to slow his momentum towards becoming the GOP’s presumptive nominee for the 2024 presidential election, according to a new poll by CBS News.
Despite facing yet another politically motivated and baseless indictment, most Republican voters have continued to rally behind Trump and see him as the best contender to defeat President Joe Biden in 2024, with 61 percent support among likely GOP primary voters. This commanding lead marks Trump’s largest lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and a field of also-rans polling in the single digits.
While many in the mainstream media are trying to suggest that President Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago is a national security risk, most Republican voters do not consider this to be a disqualifying factor in their presidential candidate. Even if President Trump is ultimately proven guilty of a crime in this matter, the vast majority of Republican voters still believe that he should be able to serve as president again.
Although it’s clear that President Trump has the support of the Republican base, he still has a bit of work to do with some factions within the party. His “MAGA” supporters tend to be a bit more combative and desire to investigate and punish the opposition party. However, the majority of Republicans prefer a president who can find common ground with Democrats and focus on the economy, immigration and the plans for the country moving forward.

As President Trump continues to soar in popularity among Republican voters, he will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2024 presidential race. With Vice President Mike Pence and advisor Chris Christie trailing far behind him in the latest poll, President Trump may even skip the Republican Party’s first debate of the election season, confident in the fact that he is up by too many points to need to share the stage with his Republican rivals.
