Judge Green Lights DOJ to Re-Examine Former ‘Soft Touch’ Court Deal!

In a move that has raised eyebrows, District Judge Maryellen Noreika has granted approval to the Department of Justice’s request to drop charges against President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, in Delaware. However, the charges can be refilled in a different jurisdiction. Federal prosecutors argued that the tax-related charges against Hunter Biden should be tried in either the Central District of California or the District of Columbia instead of Delaware, due to a deadlock in plea negotiations. This decision means that if charges are refiled in a different district, Judge Noreika will not oversee the case.

Judge Noreika’s decision to drop the charges has drawn criticism from conservatives who believe that a different judge might be more lenient towards Hunter Biden. Republican Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton expressed skepticism, tweeting, “Biden’s DOJ wants to dismiss the charges against Hunter, supposedly to refile them elsewhere, no doubt before some liberal judge who will rubber-stamp a sweetheart deal. They’re conspiring.”

Hunter Biden’s legal team has argued that the plea deal and pretrial diversion agreement were heavily influenced by DOJ prosecutors, and they believe that the diversion agreement remains valid and binding. On the other hand, Special Counsel David Weiss argues that the diversion agreement is no longer in effect and that Hunter Biden’s interpretation of the agreement as providing broad immunity was “a problem entirely of their own making.”

This latest development comes after Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss as a special counsel to oversee the ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden. The appointment allows Weiss to initiate charges beyond Delaware, potentially signaling a broader scope for the investigation. Legal observers have speculated that the move to drop the charges in Delaware and seek a different venue could be an attempt to move the case away from Judge Noreika’s court and into a more favorable setting for the President’s son.
