The doomsayers had their day in the sun, shouting financial disaster from the rooftops as President Donald Trump rolled out his much-debated trade tariffs. The left-leaning pundits were ready to herald mass layoffs and economic collapse as a foregone conclusion. Yet, in their eagerness to denounce Trump, they forgot one crucial detail: reality.
The latest jobs report paints a very different picture from the one liberals were peddling. Despite the bleats of impending chaos, the U.S. economy decided to dance its own tune, adding approximately 177,000 jobs in April alone. That figure is notably higher than the 130,000 new jobs that so-called experts had predicted. The unemployment rate? Steady as a rock at 4.2 percent. It seems like Trump’s “America First” agenda is reaping rewards, but you wouldn’t hear about it on mainstream media.
Private sector jobs are booming, particularly in construction, transportation, and warehousing. Remember the naysayers who predicted doom for these sectors because of tariffs? They’re eating crow right about now. Meanwhile, federal jobs have been trimmed by 9,000, bringing the total government job cuts to around 29,000 since Trump took office. Smaller government, more private sector growth—exactly what conservative principles champion.
Let’s talk wages. Average hourly wages are creeping up by 0.3 percent, while labor force participation inches upward. More Americans are working, and they’re earning more. That’s more than just numbers; that’s hope and prosperity returning to ordinary Americans who have been ignored for years. The stock market is responding positively too, with major indices regaining earlier losses after reacting to the initial rollout of tariffs. The so-called “recession” is more wishful thinking than reality.
Not content with these victories, Trump is pressing the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates. More consumer borrowing and spending would supercharge this economic renaissance. With tariffs bringing in billions and costs of essentials dropping, Trump’s vision of a stronger, more prosperous America is emerging from the fog of liberal pessimism.
The question is, why do the left continue to root for American failure? In their race to criticize, they reveal their contempt for the everyday citizens reaping the benefits of these policies. When will they wake up and realize that the “America Last” approach only serves globalist interests? The path forward is laid out clearly: more winning for Americans, whether critics like it or not.
