A group of Muslims from swing states gathered in Michigan over the weekend with a clear message: it’s time to “#AbandonBiden.” These individuals are deeply unhappy with President Joe Biden’s support for Israel and his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict. While the Biden administration has expressed its criticisms of Israel’s actions, many in the Arab and Muslim-American community feel that any support for Israel is unacceptable.
Muslim leaders from various swing states, including Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, have come together to launch a national campaign against Biden’s reelection. They are determined to ensure that Biden only serves one term as president. While they have run separate pressure campaigns in their respective states in the past, they believe it is crucial to unite their efforts ahead of the 2024 election.

Interestingly, these Muslim leaders have made it clear that they are not voting for former President Donald Trump. However, they acknowledge that their opposition to Biden may inadvertently elevate Trump’s chances of a comeback. Despite this, they are committed to finding a candidate they can support as the primaries draw near.
It seems that the prospect of losing votes in crucial swing states has had an impact on the Biden administration’s stance on Israel. Additionally, there is growing unrest among White House staffers, further pushing Biden towards a more tepid position. In fact, Biden reportedly apologized to Muslim leaders for questioning the death count provided by Hamas during the Israel-Hamas conflict, even though it included known terrorists.
The mobilization of these Muslim leaders sends a clear message to Biden that his support cannot be taken for granted. As the 2024 election approaches, it will be interesting to see how this movement evolves and if it can influence the outcome. The Democrats may have to reevaluate their approach to Israel if they want to maintain support from key swing state voters.
