National News Networks SNUB Trump Campaign Announcement

The decision was made by ABC, CBS, MSNBC, and NBC not to broadcast former President Donald Trump's statement that he will run for president again in 2024.

Trump made the announcement from his Mar-a-Lago property on Tuesday, making him the first contender to declare his intention to run for the Republican nomination for president in 2024. The ballroom where he delivered the speech that lasted for more than an hour and a half was filled at the time, despite the fact that some people tried to leave before it was over.

The dating competition show Bachelor in Paradise was broadcast at the same time on ABC. While the former president was speaking, CBS was airing its drama series FBI, while NBC was airing its science fiction series La Brea instead of airing the address. Both CNN and Fox News broadcast live coverage of the speech for the majority of its duration; but, at some point, they transitioned away from the event and returned to their regularly scheduled programming.

According to the data provided by Nielson at the end of October, Bachelor in Paradise had the highest number of viewers in the age range of 18 to 49. This resulted in a grand total of 2.3 million viewers, which represented a marginal rise in comparison to the previous week. However, NBC's La Brea only drew 3.5 million viewers from that same demographic, making it the network with the second-most viewers overall. With 5.5 million viewers, CBS's FBI programme finished in third place within the target demographic for which the network was aiming.

There has not yet been an announcement made on the Nielson ratings for Tuesday night. A video that CNN uploaded to YouTube that included excerpts from Trump's speech received approximately 481,000 views from the network's 14.5 million members. Fox News broadcasted the entire event as a livestream on YouTube, where it received around 918,000 views from its more than 10 million subscribers.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of the former president and longtime adviser to her father, was not present during the event. Ivanka Trump announced in a statement that she would be stepping away from politics in order to devote her attention to her family at a time when her father was winding down his remarks.
