Canada has a new prime minister, Mark Carney, and already he’s playing with fire by trying to confront one of the world’s most decisive leaders: President Trump. Carney won his position in Canada by promising to take on Trump’s supposed “aggression.” But ask yourself, who really is being aggressive here? Is it Trump, who’s putting America first, or is it Carney, who seems too eager to lecture the United States?
Carney is heading to the Oval Office to try to smooth over trade tensions. What he wants is to protect Canada’s interests without respecting the fact that Trump was elected to protect ours. Trade relations are not just a nice handshake and a pat on the back. They’re about ensuring American businesses and workers aren’t getting the short end of the stick. Trump knows this, and he has been unflinching in his efforts to secure fair deals.

Canada’s new approach seems to be less about making real change and more about posturing. Carney, in an attempt to rally support back home, acts as though he can tame Trump. But let’s be honest, the real issue here is Canada wants the benefits without putting in the effort to play fair. Liberal politicians like Carney are quick to criticize but slow to offer anything that helps both nations.
Trump has consistently put America first, unafraid to ruffle feathers in the process. While Carney must navigate the trade waters without losing face back home, he also must realize that President Trump isn’t going to roll over because some new prime minister demands it. America needs a leader who doesn’t bend to globalist demands, and that leader is Trump.
What remains to be seen is whether Carney is ready to work with America, not against it. Or will he follow the liberal playbook of whining about fairness while ignoring what’s best for the actual citizens? Trump is certain to stand firm, but will Canada’s leader keep up the posturing, or finally see reason in American hard-nosed diplomacy?
