Pro-Palestinian demonstrators decided to throw a tantrum worthy of a toddler denied their favorite toy during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the nation’s capital. Instead of, you know, enjoying a peaceful protest, these activists took it upon themselves to burn the American flag—yes, the flag that symbolizes the very freedoms they supposedly cherish. In a classic display of misplaced priorities, they replaced Old Glory with a giant Palestinian flag, all while the cameras rolled for some viral outrage.
Washington, D.C., turned into a scene straight out of a bad action movie as chaos erupted. The police were called in to douse the fiery enthusiasm of the protesters with pepper spray—perhaps a more effective measure than trying to combat their ridiculous rhetoric with reason. While flames consumed both the American flag and an effigy of Netanyahu, chants demanding the burning of national symbols provided the soundtrack to this ill-conceived spectacle.
Outside Union Station in DC now. Lots of vandalism of the statues and Freedom Bell, including big praise for Hamas. pic.twitter.com/1D6XCMFX5j

At Union Station—once a proud gateway for travelers—protesters decided the American flag needed to take an extended vacation, replacing it with a large Palestinian flag. One can only imagine the confusion of tourists trying to figure out if they were in a country that values freedom or a site for political theater gone haywire.
As if that wasn’t enough, these thrill-seekers ventured over to Columbus Circle and gave landmarks a makeover with graffiti proclaiming slogans like “Free Gaza” and “Hamas Is Coming.” This creative endeavor earned them the title of ‘artists of protest’, though whether the D.C. Arts Commission approves of their work remains to be seen. Meanwhile, conservative commentator Katie Pavlich shone a light on this vandalism, reminding sensible Americans that not all art has to be displayed in galleries.
Before Netanyahu even had a chance to enjoy his stay, the protestors were already hard at work causing trouble, including an incident that involved releasing insects inside the historic Watergate Hotel. The whole escapade resembled something out of a poorly written sitcom rather than a legitimate political demonstration. Clearly, if these protesters are aiming for respect, they might want to reconsider their methods, or at least take a cue from traditional protest strategies that don’t involve flammable objects or creepy crawlies.
