Scott Blasts Harris: Step Up on Impeachment or Own Border Chaos!

Republican Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) has urged Vice President Kamala Harris to preside over the Senate impeachment trial of President Joe Biden's border commander, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Scott ridiculed Harris by noting that the Vice President is also required by the Constitution to preside over the United States Senate. He emphasized that in early 2021, Harris was designated as the "border czar" and tasked with "preventing migration to our southern border." It appears that she failed to fulfill this responsibility.

Scott urged Harris to discharge her responsibility as the presiding officer of the impeachment trial, asserting that Secretary Mayorkas has violated the public's confidence by making false statements and persistently failing to comply with congressional subpoenas, in addition to engaging in a "systematic and deliberate refusal to comply with the law." The speaker underscored the persistent predicament that municipalities and states are confronted with due to the influx of unauthorized immigrants who readily traverse the country's borders and penetrate the interior.

Twelve Republican senators, including Scott, wrote to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) to urge the bipartisan establishment to expedite Mayorkas' impeachment proceeding. Mayorkas has been charged with a House indictment on the grounds that he disregarded an order from Congress mandating the detention of migrants at the border until the processing of their asylum claims is finalized. Mayorkas and other pro-immigration figures have characterized their "catch and release" policy as "prosecutorial discretion," which facilitates the employment of unauthorized immigrants in the United States and promotes the occurrence of illegal border crossings.

The policy of extraction in the economy Family incomes and workplace investments have been reallocated to Wall Street, real estate, coastal states, and the government as a result of migration. This has benefited coastal elites and investors, but it has also diverted the attention of politicians from American communities and caused them to disregard the "deaths of despair" that discarded Americans have endured. The hesitancy of Harris to preside over the impeachment trial of Secretary Mayorkas is perceived as an ongoing disregard for her duties, which fails to address the border crisis and exacerbates discontent among conservative Republicans.
