Trans Agenda Swamps Women’s Sports: World Aquatics’ Absurd New Category

In a mind-boggling decision, the governing body for swimming, World Aquatics, has announced the creation of an “open” category to include transgender athletes. Cue the eye roll. It’s like the world has gone mad!

The president of World Aquatics, Husain Al-Musallam, made this ludicrous announcement at the World Aquatics Congress in Japan. Apparently, they didn’t want to bother with pesky details because who needs those anyway, right?

According to Al-Musallam, “our sport must be open to everybody.” Ah, yes, because what could go wrong with throwing gender distinctions out the window in competitive swimming? Fair competition for female athletes be damned!

Now, the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) stepped in to remind everyone of common sense. They rightly pointed out that creating an “open” category merely offers an opportunity for advantaged male athletes to dominate and stomp on the dreams of aspiring female athletes. But who cares about fairness, right?

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the absurdity of it all. Last year, we witnessed the madness unfolding when Will “Lia” Thomas, a biological male, decided he identified as a woman and joined the women’s swim team at the University of Pennsylvania after competing against men for three years. Talk about stacking the deck!

Female swimmers in the NCAA championships were forced to compete against Thomas, some even having to share a locker room with him. Riley Gaines, a former swimmer from the University of Kentucky, had the unfortunate experience of tying with Thomas at the championships. What a slap in the face! Thomas even got to take the trophy home, leaving Gaines empty-handed. Where’s the justice?

To make matters worse, Paula Scanlan, another one of Thomas’ former teammates, revealed in an interview that UPenn did not bother to ask the girls how they felt about competing against Thomas and sharing intimate spaces with him. It’s clear that the powers that be were more interested in silencing the girls, warning them not to speak to the media. What happened to transparency and open dialogue?

This move by World Aquatics is nothing short of pandering to the politically correct crowd. It’s sacrificing the integrity of women’s sports at the altar of inclusivity. We must protect fair competition for female athletes and maintain the established categories based on sex. No other agenda should supersede that. It’s time to stop this madness and get back to basics!
