Former President Donald Trump made quite the entrance as he arrived in New York City for his civil fraud trial. After being found liable last month for exaggerating his net worth by billions of dollars, Trump now faces a trial that will examine six claims in a lawsuit brought against him by Democratic Attorney General Letitia James. The trial, taking place in a lower Manhattan courtroom, is presided over by Justice Arthur Engoron, a Democrat.
In the lawsuit, James accuses Trump and the Trump Organization of greatly inflating the value of their assets, including Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. While Engoron determined that the property was valued at around $18 million, Trump insists it is worth over $1 billion. Talk about a discrepancy!

But Trump is not one to back down without a fight. The former president has been quick to criticize both James and Engoron, calling them “racist” and “deranged” respectively. He has even gone as far as dismissing the entire case as “fake” and a form of election interference. Classic Trump!
While the trial is still ongoing, James is seeking a hefty $250 million in damages and hopes to stop Trump from conducting any business in New York. Meanwhile, Trump is not holding back, using his social media platform to express his grievances and claim that his net worth is actually much higher than what is being presented.
It’s clear that this trial is shaping up to be a battle of wills and egos. Both sides are firmly standing their ground, and it will be interesting to see what evidence and arguments are presented as the trial unfolds. One thing is for sure though, it’s going to be quite the spectacle, and Trump’s larger-than-life persona will undoubtedly keep us entertained throughout!
