In a recent social media post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump expressed his support for two fellow New Yorkers, Mayor Eric Adams and Former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who are facing lawsuits over alleged sexual misconduct. Trump decried the lawsuits as “ridiculous” and “UNCONSTITUTIONAL,” echoing his own frustration with similar accusations leveled against him in the past.

The lawsuits against Adams and Cuomo surfaced just as New York’s Adult Survivors Act was set to expire. This law allowed victims of sexual assault and harassment to file civil suits against their abusers regardless of the statute of limitations. Since its enactment in 2022, over 3,000 cases have been brought to court, sparking controversy and legal battles across the state.
One of the accusers suing Cuomo is a former staffer who alleges he groped her in 2021, prompting her to file a case with the Albany County Clerk. Despite her claims, prosecutors dropped a criminal case against Cuomo. In 2021, Cuomo resigned from his position as governor following allegations of sexual harassment from nearly a dozen women. His attorney, Rita Glavin, vehemently denied the accusations, dismissing them as “provably false” and pledging to contest them in court.
Meanwhile, a woman has sued Mayor Adams, alleging that he assaulted her back in 1993 when they were both employed by New York City. Adams, on the other hand, has denied the allegations through a spokesperson.
In his post, Trump drew attention to his own legal battles surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct. Earlier this year, a New York jury found him liable for battery and defamation in a case where E. Jean Carroll accused him of raping her in the mid-1990s. Trump was ordered to pay $5 million in damages. He dismissed Carroll’s claims as a “made up fairytale” orchestrated by political operatives for “Election Interference.”
Trump’s vocal support for Adams and Cuomo marks a continuation of his outspoken stance against what he perceives as politically motivated and unjust legal actions related to allegations of sexual misconduct.
