On Monday night, the Trump campaign sent out a strong message to the Republican National Committee (RNC): cancel the upcoming debates and put an end to all future debates. Now, you may be wondering why they would make such a bold request. Well, according to Senior Advisors Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, it’s all about preventing the Democrats from stealing the 2024 election. And let’s be honest, that’s a valid concern. Voter integrity is crucial, and it’s high time the RNC takes it seriously.
Now, it’s no surprise that Trump remains the frontrunner in the polls. The RealClearPolitics averages show him with a whopping 56.5 percent support, while Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis trails behind with a mere 13.7 percent. It’s clear that Trump still has the support of the American people, so why waste time and resources on more debates? As former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wisely pointed out, “Donald Trump will be the nominee… There’s no middle ground here.” The RNC should recognize this objective fact and start working alongside Trump instead of against him.
Let’s face it, the debates have been a disaster. From biased moderators to repeating Democratic talking points, it’s clear that they are not designed to benefit Republican candidates. As Stephen Kruiser from PJ Media pointed out, these debates have become nothing more than a game of “Gotcha!” Instead of discussing important issues, candidates are subjected to inane questions that do nothing but tarnish their image.
And can we talk about the role of Fox News and Univision in all of this? Why in the world is a hostile network like Univision even involved in a Republican primary debate? It’s like inviting the fox into the henhouse. And as for Fox News, they have been leaning more toward MSNBC Lite rather than representing conservative values. It’s about time the GOP takes a stand and demands fair and unbiased debates.
But it’s not just about canceling the debates. The RNC needs a major shakeup. GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has presided over disastrous elections, and it’s clear that her leadership is not working. Maybe she struck a deal with Trump, where he helps her reelection bid and in return, she sets up these terrible debates that he conveniently avoids. It’s just a theory, but hey, it makes sense.
It’s also worth mentioning that other candidates are not playing by the rules. While Trump decided not to participate in the RNC debates, the other qualified candidates are already making demands and challenging the criteria. The DeSantis campaign wants heightened polling thresholds, and Vivek 2024 CEO Ben Yoho has even written a letter calling for the exclusion of candidates who don’t meet the top polling requirement. It’s clear that chaos and infighting are plaguing the Republican party.
With the Iowa Republican Caucus still three and a half months away, there is still time to make changes. The RNC must listen to the concerns of the Trump campaign and take action to ensure a safe and secure election. The American people deserve transparency and integrity in our electoral process, and it’s time the RNC steps up to the plate and puts an end to these farcical debates. Let’s refocus our efforts on supporting Trump and making sure that he defeats President Joe Biden in 2024. The future of our country depends on it.
