While D.C. Argues, Families Struggle to Survive the Week

For too long, the political elites have been busy arguing about things that don’t help regular Americans. They’re obsessed with policies and social debates that make headlines but do nothing to make life affordable for you and me. I don’t care how many gender identities someone claims or whether billionaires want more tax cuts—my concern is trying to make it through the week without emptying my bank account. The average American family is struggling to keep food on the table, and a trip to the gas pump feels like a robbery. Meanwhile, politicians and their think tank buddies keep bickering about nonsense that has zero impact on how we live our daily lives.

It seems like no one in Washington understands that people are hurting. When did buying groceries become a luxury? Eggs used to be a staple for any family on a budget, but now they’re priced like a gourmet item. Don’t even get me started on meat or dairy. The disconnect between the D.C. elite and everyday folks has never been greater, and it’s because our so-called leaders have their heads buried in everything except the real issues. We need politicians who are more concerned about the price of a loaf of bread than impressing their globalist buddies at a climate summit.

Gas prices are another slap in the face. We went from energy independence under Trump to begging OPEC for a break on oil prices. How is that not an embarrassment? Every time I fill up my tank, I’m reminded of how much this administration has failed us. The left likes to push their green agenda and tell us we should be driving electric cars, but guess what? Most of us can’t afford a $60,000 Tesla, and even if we could, those charging stations are nowhere to be found in rural America. We’re stuck paying sky-high prices for gas while the elites pat themselves on the back for “saving the planet.”

The worst part is that the media is complicit. They don’t cover the hardships we face because it doesn’t fit their narrative. Instead, they focus on everything from identity politics to the latest celebrity gossip. Anything to distract from the fact that most Americans can’t afford basic necessities anymore. And when they do talk about inflation, they twist it, saying it’s “transitory” or blaming it on some far-off event like the war in Ukraine. Newsflash: Americans were struggling with rising costs long before that war broke out, and it’s only gotten worse since then.

I’m done with the endless debates that do nothing but distract from the real issues. I don’t need another think piece on why I should be worried about climate change when I can’t even afford to heat my home this winter. I don’t care about the latest political scandal if it doesn’t impact my ability to pay for groceries. The kitchen table issues are all that matter to me, and they should be the priority for anyone claiming to represent us. Until then, the rest is just noise.
