As the government prepares for a possible debt ceiling battle, the White House is targeting Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs.
Andrew Bates, a White House spokesperson, accused the lawmaker of supporting the ruination of the country's small businesses, workers, and retirement plans through his irresponsible actions. He stated that a default would lead to economic disaster and give China an unfair advantage.
According to Bates, the actions of the Republican-controlled Congress were instrumental in increasing the country's debt ceiling three times under Donald Trump.
He stated that Trump and the American people would not tolerate economic vandalism.
Last week, Janet Yellen, the Treasury Secretary, stated that the country would have to rely on various measures to pay its debts. The exact date when the country would reach the point of default will depend on the country's tax revenues.
Despite the White House's insistence that it should not negotiate, House Republicans still believe that spending cuts should be included in any agreement regarding the debt ceiling.
This week, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy stated that the House would not be able to increase the country's debt ceiling. He accused Democrats of intentionally misappropriating the country's resources.

In response, Congressman Chip Roy of Texas came up with a plan that would prioritize the various measures that the country uses to pay its debts. These include military funding, the debt service payment, and Medicare and Social Security benefits.
