The Wall Street Journal has uncovered the Chinese Communist government’s surreptitious efforts to conduct espionage on American citizens and shipping vessels. According to the report, the cranes manufactured in China and utilized at American ports, including those utilized by the military, have the potential to be used as a spying mechanism. The presence of advanced sensors within these cranes is disconcerting as they have the ability to monitor the origin and destination of containers, providing China with access to information about the resources being transported to and from the country to support U.S. military endeavors.

On Monday, when asked about the spying concerns, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissed them. Instead, she directed the question to the Department of Transportation and the Department of Defense, who have been assigned the responsibility of examining this matter. Despite the National Security Council’s efforts to tackle potential cyber risks within the marine transportation system, it appears that President Biden is not giving this issue the gravity it deserves, as he has not scheduled any talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding their ongoing activities.

JEAN-PIERRE: "Don't have any comment on that specific reporting. I would refer you to the Department of Transportation and the Department of Defense." pic.twitter.com/SAJoPw9gM3

The Chinese Communist government’s efforts to conduct espionage on American citizens and shipping vessels pose a grave threat to our national security. The fact that they have sophisticated sensors capable of tracing the origin and destination of containers, potentially providing them with access to critical information about resources transported to and from the country to support U.S. military operations, is concerning. It is unacceptable that President Biden has not taken stronger measures to tackle this issue, and it is evident that he is not treating it with the urgency it requires. It is time for President Biden to take a firm stance against the Chinese Communist government’s attempts to spy on Americans and shipping vessels.
