The new Center Square Voters’ Voice poll is a wake-up call — but not a loud enough one. It finds 55% of voters say they are concerned about Democratic Socialist candidates running for, and possibly winning, elected office. That should make every freedom-loving American sit up and pay attention.
The poll numbers — what they actually show
The topline is clear: 55% worried, 37% not worried. Break it down and 35% are “very concerned” and 20% are “somewhat concerned.” On the other side, 17% say they’re “not too concerned” and 20% “not at all concerned.” The survey has 2,527 registered voters and was conducted Oct. 5–7, 2026. Center Square reports a ±2.0% margin, which makes the result appear solid on its face.
Methodology and context — read this before you crow
That said, the poll used an opt-in online panel and text-to-web outreach. In plain English: it’s not a classic random sample. That doesn’t make the result useless, but it means reporters and campaigns should treat it with some caution. Also worth noting: this finding is lower than an August Center Square result that showed 63% concern, and a separate CBS poll found about 58% of Democrats view “socialism” positively — a fact even Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has publicly worried about.
Why 55% is good news — but not nearly enough
Fifty-five percent worried is better than silence, but it should be higher. Socialism and democratic socialist ideas are not abstract. They show up as policy priorities that reshape taxes, spending, private property, and personal freedom. With President Trump in the White House, control of Congress is the next battleground. If Democrats — including those aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America — claw their way to power, they will push to undo policies and flex oversight power. That’s why a slim majority is not a comfortable margin.
What voters should do next
This poll should be a call to action, not a consolation prize. Turnout decides midterms. Talk to your neighbors. Volunteer at the polls. Make the concern into votes. If Americans really worry about socialism, then show it where it matters — at the ballot box. No one should be shrugging and saying, “Well, 55% is something.” Fight for a bigger number and protect the country’s future.
