Abbott Urges Biden Resignation, Doubts Harris Leadership Amid Border Crisis

Texas Governor Greg Abbott didn’t hold back after President Biden’s recent announcement that he would not seek reelection yet plans to cling to the presidency until his term runs out. Rather than shedding a tear over the President’s departure from the race, Abbott suggested a better idea would be for Biden to resign outright. After all, if he’s deemed “unfit to run for the presidency,” surely he’s not fit to run the country either. With American security hanging by a thread, Abbott argued that it’s high time for a change in leadership, and he didn’t mince words about it.

Biden’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place in the Democratic primary is certainly a bold move. Amid the chaos, Harris has already announced her intentions to run, while the Democrats prepare for an open convention where delegates will ultimately decide their nominee. Abbott’s swift reaction made it clear: trust in Harris, the so-called “border czar,” is about as high as trust in a diet soda for weight loss. Anyone paying attention knows she couldn’t run a lemonade stand without spilling it all over the place.

In keeping with the theme of border security, Abbott quipped that he might just need to triple the border wall now that the President has decided to pass the torch to Harris. After all, as he pointed out, the current border situation is so out of hand that it seems like Texas’ own “border czar,” Mike Banks, has been working double time just to keep up with the influx of illegal crossings—something that Harris allegedly did in her entire tenure.

Meanwhile, as the state pours nearly $12 billion into securing its border—an amount significantly more than previous federal allocations under Trump—Harris has been busy doing what she does best: avoiding the border altogether. Critics from both parties have pointed out her spectacular absence while border communities suffer, yet her response to the critiques is that she and Biden have “been to the border.” Somewhere deep in a studio, a TV host reminded her that those trips to Europe do not count as border visits, and the absurdity of the exchange only highlighted Harris’ inability to grasp the gravity of the situation.

With more than 12 million foreign nationals entering the U.S. illegally since Biden took office, one can only imagine what these numbers would look like if Trump were still in command. Under his administration, border enforcement had tangible effects, while Biden’s approach has been more akin to leaving the front door wide open and then complaining that there are guests who won’t leave. Intelligence experts, including the FBI chief, have already raised alarms about the border crisis leading to a terrorist attack. Given the number of people crossing the border with connections to groups like ISIS, it seems the only thing that’s getting stronger is the argument for Trump’s return to the Oval Office.

In the grand showdown between Abbott and Biden, the Texas governor is positioning himself not just as a defender of the state but as a clarion call for anyone who cares about America’s future. With Operation Lone Star proving to be a boon for border security—resulting in hundreds of thousands of illegal apprehensions and drug seizures—Abbott is making it perfectly clear that if the Biden administration can’t handle the heat, it might just be time to pass the leadership baton to someone who can. As they say, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the presidency.
