The U.S. Army recently released a new recruitment video that has caused quite a stir among social media users and beyond. The video features a squad comprised mostly of white males, which is a departure from the Army’s recent emphasis on diversity and inclusiveness. It seems like the Army has taken a step back from celebrating the unique backgrounds and identities of its personnel.

Just when you thought the Army was finally getting woke, they drop this bombshell of a video. Can you believe it? They had that whole animated film with the two moms raising a little girl, trying to show how progressive they are. But now, it’s like they forgot all about diversity and went back to showcasing the same old militaristic stereotypes.
I mean, seriously, Elon Musk couldn’t help but say “Uh-oh” when he saw the all-white cast in the ad. And people on social media were quick to point out that the younger generation, Gen Z, could be the ones getting drafted in the future. They’re making connections between the lack of diversity in this video and the political decisions that could affect their lives down the road. It’s a warning sign that the Army might be losing touch with the values of the younger generation.
It’s disappointing to see the Army backtrack on their commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. By featuring a predominantly white male squad, they’re sending a message that only a certain type of person is welcome in their ranks. This is not the image we want our armed forces to project to the world.
We need an Army that represents the true diversity of our nation. We need an Army that embraces people from all walks of life, regardless of their race, gender, or sexual orientation. It’s not only a matter of fairness but also a matter of national security. Our military should be a reflection of the strength and unity we as a country strive for.
The Army should take this backlash as an opportunity to reassess their recruitment strategies and make sure they are truly inclusive. Let’s hope they learn from this misstep and work towards a more diverse and representative fighting force. Our nation deserves nothing less.
