This incident also reinforces the warnings critics offered after prior attempts on the president’s life, including the July 13, 2024 shooting that exposed serious security lapses and nearly cost Mr. Trump his life; it is unconscionable that lessons from past failures were not turned into ironclad protections sooner. The administration and Congress should immediately lock down protections for the commander-in-chief and demand answers about how someone could get so far so fast, and they should not tolerate bureaucratic dithering while the public’s safety is at stake.
Above all, this is a moment for the conservative movement to stand firm: call for transparent federal investigation, prosecute any conspirators to the fullest extent, and hold accountable the institutions that enabled the poisonous rhetoric feeding this violence. Hardworking Americans will not be cowed by terror or media spin — we will demand justice, restore law and order, and defend the rule of law that keeps our country safe.
