Joe Biden’s latest career move appears to involve more time in his beach house than on the campaign trail. Following his announcement that he would not be seeking reelection, reports surfaced that the President has canceled almost ten trips that were on his schedule. It seems that once he decided to give up on this whole presidential gig, he also decided to give up on jet-setting across the country.
Reliable sources have told the New York Post that Biden’s itinerary took a nosedive right after he dropped the bombshell about his presidential exit. Apparently, trip cancellations began rolling in like a snowball effect. But who can blame him? The man is probably feeling pretty cozy in Rehoboth, where he can enjoy some peace and quiet while watching the national circus from his front porch rather than being part of it.

Biden, freshly diagnosed with COVID-19, might be using this excuse as a perfect opportunity to do what he does best: not much. The White House had originally planned for him to leave his Delaware retreat for the sunny shores of California, the scenic mountains of Denver, and the bustling metropolises of Houston and Austin. Instead, it appears his grand tour has turned into an extended beach vacation, resulting in a few extra days of isolation and perhaps a few too many beachside cocktails.
It appears that Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s personal physician, is doing his best to reassure the nation that their leader is okay. According to him, after completing a whopping tenth dose of PAXLOVID, the President’s symptoms are nearly gone. One can only wonder if the good doctor adds a sprinkle of optimism that might make for a good press release but doesn’t necessarily reflect reality. Lungs are clear; vitals are normal—good job, doc! But for a guy who’s not running for anything, one has to wonder about all this fuss over his health.
Not that anyone will notice his absence on the campaign trail since he already appeared to be largely absent from any real enthusiasm around his potential candidacy. Perhaps the Democrats’ choice of running Kamala Harris is a tacit acknowledgment that they’ve already thrown in the towel. With Biden opting to stay in Rehoboth rather than rallying supporters, it seems he’s ready for the beach instead of the battle. At least he has a nice view while contemplating the mistakes of his presidency and the Democrats’ impending doom in the upcoming elections.
