Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad and the inspiration for the movie “Sound of Freedom,” is demanding that the Biden administration take action to locate the 85,000 missing migrant children. Ballard spoke at a press conference alongside Rep. Chris Smith to support a new bill that would require the federal government to track down these vulnerable children.
Ballard didn’t hold back as he criticized Biden for the missing children and called for them to receive the same protection as any American child found alone in a dangerous city. He highlighted the alarming fact that the United States is the top consumer of child exploitation material, making these children even more susceptible to trafficking.
In an open challenge to the administration, Ballard asked why these foreign children aren’t being given adequate protection. He accused the government of failing to provide them with the support they desperately need and called their efforts a “joke.”
Rep. Smith’s bill, known as the SECURE Act, aims to address this issue by requiring federal agencies to report on their efforts to find and safeguard these missing children. The bill also directs agencies to investigate any suspicion of human trafficking involving these children.
According to US Customs and Border Protection, around 345,000 unaccompanied minors have crossed the border since 2021. Shockingly, around 85,000 of these children have lost contact with federal officials, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and sex trafficking. Smith strongly condemned the Biden administration for endangering these children and emphasized the urgent need for accountability.
Commenting on Ballard’s crucial work, Rep. Smith commended him as a true hero. Ballard’s efforts with Operation Underground Railroad have led to the rescue of numerous exploited children, making him an example of someone who fights for justice.
The “Sound of Freedom” film, which drew inspiration from Ballard’s work, became a massive success, grossing over $210 million worldwide. Angel Studios raised $5 million through crowd-funding to promote the movie. This triumph allowed the studio to repay its investors with an additional 20%. The film’s success lies in its ability to shine a spotlight on the horrors of child trafficking, raising awareness of this despicable crime.
It’s worth noting that former President Donald Trump also made a bold promise to combat child trafficking during his presidency. He pledged to give child traffickers the death penalty if re-elected in 2024, vowing to put an end to the exploitation of vulnerable women and children.
The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated. These missing children are at great risk, and it is the responsibility of the Biden administration to take immediate action to protect them. Failure to do so would be a disgrace, and the consequences would be devastating for the lives of these innocent children. It’s time for the government to step up and prioritize the safety and welfare of these vulnerable individuals.
