In an unsurprising move, President Joe Biden wasted no time in politicizing the tragic shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, by immediately calling for an “assault weapons” ban. The shooter, a 67-year-old individual who was not even hired as a professor at UNLV, used a handgun in the attack. Despite these crucial details, Biden shamelessly seized the opportunity to push his anti-Second Amendment agenda.

Biden, who apparently has an aversion to waiting for actual facts, released a statement demanding Congress to join him in banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, enacting universal background checks, and implementing other gun control measures. This knee-jerk reaction is nothing but political theater, catering to his leftist base rather than addressing the real issues at hand.
The audacity of Biden’s statement becomes even more apparent when considering that he referenced another shooting spree in Texas, where the shooter allegedly used a large caliber handgun. It’s as if Biden has a predetermined script to follow, regardless of the type of firearm used in any given tragedy. It’s almost as though he doesn’t care about the facts and is simply using these horrific events to further his own political interests.
The rush to exploit tragedies for political gain is not a new tactic for Biden and his cronies. Rather than focusing on the real root causes of violence or addressing mental health issues, they continuously target law-abiding gun owners with their restrictive policies. It’s a classic case of punishing the innocent for the crimes of the guilty, all under the guise of “common-sense measures.”
It’s disappointing, but not surprising, that President Biden continues to use these tragedies as stepping stones for his anti-Second Amendment agenda. The American people deserve thoughtful and evidence-based policies, not knee-jerk reactions that trample on their constitutional rights.
