It seems the Biden clan is getting anxious for Grandpa Joe to call it quits on his reelection dream. NBC News claims that the president’s inner circle is plotting an elegant exit strategy, weighing how Joe’s bid for another term could impact his health, his family, and, of course, the entire country. Rumor has it that the folks nearest to Biden are half-expecting him to throw in the towel any day now.
The rumblings come as even some members of the Democratic Party chorus are harmonizing to the tune of “It’s time to go, Joe.” More than 20 House Democrats have basically told Biden to step aside, with Sen. Jon Tester of Montana becoming the latest to join this growing cadre. These lawmakers are now rubbing elbows with leftist pundits and strategists who fear a Biden 2024 run could turn the upcoming election into a political dumpster fire for the Democrats.

And it’s not just the rank and file joining in the push. Heavyweights like former President Barack Obama and ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are reportedly working behind the scenes to gently nudge Joe off the stage. Even Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries are said to have had some come-to-Jesus conversations with Biden, encouraging him to think hard about hitting the campaign eject button.
Meanwhile, this Democratic drama is unfolding in bright, blinding daylight, especially now that Biden has been laying low thanks to his latest COVID spell. The speculation has only intensified as the president’s team fumbles about trying to reassure everyone that Joe is still the best bet. His campaign chairwoman, Jen O’Malley Dillon, even had to go on MSNBC to staunch the bleeding, admitting there’s been some “slippage” but insisting Joe’s in it to win it.
But in a statement to the Washington Examiner, White House spokesman Andrew Bates decided to play the “denial” card, flat-out rejecting any whispering of an exit plan among Biden’s kin. According to Bates, anyone suggesting otherwise is just selling tall tales — and he urges everyone to keep the faith, whatever that means.
So while Team Biden struggles to keep the faith afloat, it seems the rest of the Democratic ship might be looking to throw the old captain overboard. Get the popcorn, folks; this show is far from over.
