Biden Struggles to Retain Support as Trump Rallies Union Backing in NY

President Joe Biden has a tough road ahead if he hopes to win over voters in the upcoming election cycle. Even in traditionally Democratic states, the support for the elderly president seems to be waning.

A construction worker in New York City had some choice words for Biden when asked about the number of Trump supporters in the city, expressing his frustration with a two-word expletive. On the contrary, the worker had praised former President Donald Trump, expressing confidence in Trump’s support and predicting a potential turnaround for the former president.

During a surprise visit to a Manhattan construction site, Trump received enthusiastic support from hundreds of workers who chanted “USA, USA!” and “We Want Trump!” Many members of the Teamsters Union, historically aligned with the Democrats, were seen wearing red MAGA hats, demonstrating their backing of Trump.

Trump expressed confidence in his ability to win traditionally Democratic states like New York, citing poll numbers showing his lead in swing states. The Teamsters Union, which had not donated to the Republican National Committee in 20 years, recently contributed $45,000 and also supported Sen. Josh Hawley’s re-election campaign.

Even among traditionally Democratic organizations like the Teamsters Union, there seems to be a shift towards supporting Trump over Biden. Steamfitters Local 638 manager Bob Bartels acknowledged a significant backing for Trump among union members and suggested that a “red wave” could be on the horizon

As Trump continues to face legal challenges, including a hush money trial and ongoing Supreme Court hearings, his support among working-class union members appears to be solidifying. This trend could pose a significant challenge for President Biden and the Democratic Party in the upcoming election cycle.
