The countdown to January 20 is on, and the anticipation of Donald Trump’s return to the White House is palpable. Amid this heightened excitement, President Joe Biden took center stage at the Brookings Institution, seemingly unaware of just how dismal his tenure has been. Biden, ever the optimist, passionately outlined what he believes to be his monumental economic legacy, complete with a “middle out, bottom-up economic playbook.” Unfortunately, his vision is as detached from reality as a dog chasing its tail.
Biden’s speech was an exercise in denial, as he claimed to be handing a “strong economy” over to Trump. It’s almost laughable considering the economic strain his administration has inflicted on everyday Americans, particularly those in the supposedly thriving “middle” and “bottom” tiers. Inflation, which has been a direct result of Biden’s misguided policies, has crushed purchasing power and left families scrambling. This disconnection from the everyday struggles of Americans is precisely what led to Trump’s rise to power, as voters grew weary of Biden’s refusal to face the music.

In a rather fitting display of his capabilities, Biden’s teleprompter suddenly went dark. It was as if the universe recognized the absurdity of allowing him to continue uninterrupted. Lost in his notes, he floundered, trying to regain his composure but instead delivering a string of nonsensical statements. At one point, he rambled about an invented computer chip “the size of the tip of your little finger,” leaving many to wonder what this had to do with the state of the economy. When Biden veers off the script, it often results in an impressive display of confusion.
His remarks on foreign policy gave rise to concerns rather than confidence. Biden’s history of being wrong on major international issues is well-documented, and yet he boldly asserted his expertise. It’s almost comical to recall that under his watch, conflicts have proliferated. Whether it was the hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan or the emboldening of Russia, each misstep has led to a decline in American influence across the globe. Ironically, when he claims America must lead the world, it becomes evident that his actions have wrought discord rather than cohesion.
In an optimistic yet bewildering moment, Biden questioned who else would step up to unite the world if the U.S. failed to do so. He expounded on grand theories of leadership while his administration’s policies have instead fueled chaos—between the Iranian regime’s aggression and the current turmoil in Israel. As time marches on, and Trump’s return looms closer, it’s clear that Biden’s mismanagement has left a precarious legacy that the nation will need to recover from. The coming days are sure to be filled with more twists and turns as America braces for a change in leadership.
