Tom Homan — President Trump’s so-called border czar — snapped back at the feckless, virtue-signaling mayors who think sanctuary policies give them a free pass to flout federal law. Homan plainly told reporters he’s willing to put local leaders behind bars if they knowingly harbor illegal aliens, because the law is on the books and it will be enforced.
This isn’t empty rhetoric; Homan repeatedly pointed to a federal statute — Title 8, Section 1324 — that criminalizes harboring and concealing undocumented immigrants, and he’s made clear he intends to use every tool the law provides. If blue-city politicians want to play defiant, they should be ready for real consequences instead of theatrical press conferences.
The blunt truth is that the Biden years opened the door to chaos at our southern border, and the Trump administration is answering the call of a worried nation with decisive action. That includes plans to house large numbers of dangerous criminal immigrants away from our communities and to dramatically expand removal operations — even looking to facilities like Guantánamo Bay to handle the worst of the worst. This is the kind of muscle America needs after years of surrender.
Democrats and their media allies will howl that Homan is mean or “extreme,” but when families are terrorized and schoolyards become hunting grounds for cartel predators, tough enforcement isn’t cruelty — it’s patriotism. The Guardian and other outlets have documented the clashes between federal enforcement plans and sanctuary officials, and make no mistake: the fight over who enforces the law is exactly the fight conservatives must win.
Homan even warned sanctuary mayors with a simple message: game on. He’s betting — correctly — that empty moralizing from left-wing executives won’t stop ICE and federal law from doing their jobs, and he’s dared those mayors to test that resolve. If our leaders won’t defend citizens first, then federal officials have both the authority and the mandate to act.
Patriots who love this country should back a border czar who speaks plainly and acts boldly. We cannot allow cities to become lawless zones where criminals hide behind politics; accountability must follow ideology when public safety is at stake. Every American who cares about order, sovereignty, and the rule of law should stand with enforcement and demand that the people responsible for this mess be held to account.
