For PG&E, electric cars are a vital part of the electricity grid. They believe that they can help improve the reliability of the electricity supply and fight climate change. In addition, they expect that everyone will eventually be driving electric cars, which will also provide backup power at home.

In order to meet its electric vehicle mandate, California needs more electricity. The state is known for its green energy, but it also suffers from rolling blackouts. In the past year alone, it experienced over 140 power outages.
Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, has acknowledged that the state's power grid is experiencing issues. Despite having abundant oil reserves, California still relies on electricity from other states. It's believed that the state's green agenda is starting to bite them once again.
