Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) isn’t one to shy away from speaking his mind, especially when it comes to tackling important issues. Recently, Christie found himself in hot water for a remark he made about First Lady Jill Biden. But you know what? Christie isn’t backing down because, according to Politico, he believes that what he said is simply “the truth.” And oh boy, does the truth hurt sometimes!
During the Republican Party’s second presidential primary debate, Christie, who is among the Republican candidates vying for the 2024 presidential nomination, boldly addressed the subject of public schools and teachers’ unions. He didn’t pull any punches, folks. Christie made it crystal clear that the public school system is no longer being run by the public but by the all-powerful teachers’ unions. He even called out American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and her crew for their iron grip on education. Yikes!
But here’s where he really ruffled some feathers. Christie brought Jill Biden into the picture, suggesting that her marriage to President Joe Biden creates a conflict of interest due to her still being employed as a teacher at Northern Virginia Community College. You see, Christie’s not afraid to ask the tough questions. And by addressing this potential conflict, he’s making it clear that he believes our students deserve a president who focuses on their best interests, rather than playing favorites with the teachers’ union.
Of course, Christie received some backlash for his remarks. And when he was asked about it during an appearance on CNN, he held his ground like a true conservative warrior. Host Poppy Harlow read out some of the criticism, including some choice words from the illustrious Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But did Christie back down? Absolutely not! In fact, he embraced the criticism, relishing in the fact that he had gotten under AOC’s skin. And who can blame him? Being called “disgusting” by a hypocrite like Ocasio-Cortez is probably the highlight of any conservative’s day!
So there you have it, folks. Chris Christie isn’t afraid to speak his mind and challenge the status quo. While some may call his remarks controversial or even misogynistic, Christie stands firm in his belief that the American people deserve complete transparency and honesty. And that’s something we can all appreciate, even if it ruffles a few feathers along the way. Keep fighting the good fight, Governor Christie! We’re here for it.
