CNN Reporter Goes on Self-Righteous Rant, Calls for Fewer Voices in Society

CNN’s bias against Donald Trump was on full display during their town hall event where he was outperformed by moderator Kaitlan Collins. Despite this, Collins was given a prime time show which goes to show that CNN values bias over journalistic integrity. However, CNN’s anti-Trump sentiment was taken to a new level by longtime reporter Christiane Amanpour during her commencement speech at Columbia Journalism School, where she criticized CEO Chris Licht over the town hall event and went on a self-righteous rant about “bothsideism.”

Amanpour even suggested that there should be fewer voices in society, claiming that Trump continues to own them at their own game. She invoked the actions of media chiefs and newspaper editors who banded together to silence the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy (R-WI) when his communist witch hunts in the government went off the rails. Amanpour even went so far as to suggest that the press should revert back to the newspaper editors and TV chiefs of the 1950s who refused to allow McCarthyism onto their pages unless his lies and witch hunts could be proven in a court of law.

Amanpour’s comments reveal the left’s authoritarian nature. Rather than reporting on the facts, they want to suppress conservative opinions and narratives. Amanpour’s suggestion to have fewer voices in society is proof of this. The American people have demonstrated in the last three elections that they are well aware of Trump’s behavior and don’t need the media to tell them how to think.

Amanpour’s comments also reveal the left’s paternalistic attitude towards those who don’t share their agenda. CNN’s lies during the COVID-19 pandemic and their peddling of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax are just two examples of their lack of journalistic integrity. When people don’t believe them, they chalk it up to the people being unable to comprehend what they’re saying instead of admitting their own bias.

The press has a responsibility to cut through the noise, counter disinformation, and summon the public back to reality. However, this can only be done if they report without bias and stick to the facts. Amanpour’s call to eschew being neutral and her rejection of bothsideism reveals her own bias. The press must remain objective and truthful to regain the trust of the people.

In conclusion, Amanpour’s remarks at the Columbia Journalism School commencement speech reveal the left’s authoritarian and paternalistic attitude towards the American people who don’t share their agenda. CNN’s bias against Trump and their lack of journalistic integrity have eroded the public’s trust in the press. The press must remain objective and truthful to regain the trust of the people.
