Former FBI Director James Comey just can’t seem to get enough attention. In his latest media appearance on “CNN This Morning,” he claimed that anyone who thinks the FBI is a “leftist cabal” out to get Republicans is “crazy.” Can you believe the nerve of this guy? Clearly, he is still bitter about being fired by President Trump and is desperately trying to stay relevant.
Comey’s comments are particularly ironic given that historically, it has been those on the left who have been critical of the FBI. But now that the FBI is doing its job and investigating potential wrongdoings by Democrats, they suddenly have become the victims. It’s pathetic.
Of course, Comey is quick to defend the FBI and attack anyone who dares to question their motives. But let’s not forget that this is the same guy who leaked classified information to the media because he thought it would help bring down President Trump. He has zero credibility.
It’s also laughable that Comey claims that Trump poses a “near-existential threat” to the rule of law in America. This coming from the same guy who oversaw an FBI that spied on a presidential campaign and lied to the FISA court to obtain warrants. Comey needs to take a long hard look in the mirror before he starts pointing fingers.
In the end, the FBI will be fine. They are an important institution that plays a crucial role in keeping our country safe. But they need to stay out of politics and focus on their job. If they do that, they will earn the respect of the American people. Until then, they will just be seen as another partisan tool of the left.
