Democrat podcasters Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan crossed a line this week when they read a social‑media line about “digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again” and then laughed for more than 20 seconds. The clip comes from the November 5 episode of the I’ve Had It podcast titled “Drinking MAGA Tears.” Their reaction was not funny. It was reckless and tasteless — and it deserves to be called out.
What happened on the podcast
On the episode, Welch read aloud the post saying, “We’re digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again,” and both hosts broke into loud laughter before saying “No comment.” Later in the same segment the hosts suggested the accused shooter was tied to MAGA, using phrasing like “super MAGA” and “a MAGA person.” The audio clip spread quickly across social feeds and conservative outlets, and people are rightly asking why mocking the desecration of a dead man earned nothing but laughter and a shrug.
Why the clip matters
This is not satire. It’s celebrating violence — or at best treating it like a joke. We live in a time when political violence has real victims and an active criminal case is underway. Public figures and media voices should know better than to giggle about digging up bodies. If you are a left‑leaning podcaster trying to score cheap points, you still don’t get a pass to normalize threats and mockery of murder. That double standard fuels anger, not healing.
Quick background
Charlie Kirk is the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA. He was shot and killed while speaking at a Turning Point event. Tyler Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder and prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty. The criminal case is ongoing, which makes laughter about desecration even worse. So far the hosts have offered no apology or meaningful clarification — only “No comment” on the tape itself.
Accountability should follow
Platforms, sponsors, and listeners all have a role. Podcasters should face consequences for promoting or celebrating violence. A simple “we were kidding” won’t cut it when a real family is grieving and a serious trial is pending. Turning Point USA and others hurt by the clip deserve a response. If the left laments threats and intimidation, it should stop producing them. Civility isn’t partisan. It’s basic decency — and it’s overdue.
