DNC Faces Internal Rebellion Over Virtual Biden Nomination Push

The Democratic National Committee’s grand strategy to anoint Joe Biden via virtual roll call might be revealing some cracks in the liberal fortress. As the DNC steers its ship towards the August convention in Chicago, a rising chorus of dissent is echoing within its chambers. Some party loyalists are anything but thrilled about this digital democracy experiment.

Take, for instance, 19-year-old David Seaton-Lorenz from Massachusetts, who’s already raising red flags. This young delegate is fiercely opposed to the DNC’s virtual coronation of Biden. He feels sidelined and believes forcing this process on members does nothing but muzzle their voices. And he’s not alone. A handful of other DNC delegates are joining the chorus, sharing their uneasy sentiments and warning that Biden is already too politically battered to stand a chance against former President Donald Trump.

In Arizona, an “anonymous” delegate is sounding the alarm, predicting Trump’s trouncing of Biden in the Grand Canyon State could hurt down-ballot Democrats. There’s talk of corruption, with complaints that pushing Biden’s nomination through a virtual roll call, rather than allowing a full-throated debate, is beyond shady.

But wait, it gets juicier. Biden himself casually mentioned that he might just walk away if his medical team has bad news for him. You’d think the party would take a cue from that, but no. The DNC sent out a clarion call revealing their iron-fisted commitment to this virtual charade, with a strict deadline right around the corner—August 7. That’s some “democracy,” right?

Meanwhile, some other DNC delegates are now feeling the heat after the tense aftermath of an attempted attack on Trump. They can see the writing on the wall: momentum is veering towards Trump. It’s not your everyday political maneuvering—the stakes are higher, and the discontent within the DNC is palpable.

And then there’s the polling—everyone’s favorite political parlor game. According to an Associated Press poll, roughly two-thirds of Democratic voters think Biden should bow out gracefully and hand over the baton to someone new. Only three in ten Democrats feel confident in Biden’s capacity to serve another term, and guess what? That figure’s dropped since February.

The pressure is intensifying, with bigwig lawmakers calling out the DNC’s rush job. Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas isn’t shy about his opinion that steamrolling through this virtual vote without ample discussion is a recipe for disaster. Meanwhile, some House Democrats have been circulating a letter urging the DNC to tap the brakes on this nomination train.

The DNC will huddle this Friday to chew over the party platform and the logistics of holding its convention. Rest easy, though—they’re not pulling off the virtual roll call just yet. But as the clock ticks down to August, one thing is for sure: the increasing cries of dissent show that not everyone in the Democratic camp is sold on another Biden run.

Will the DNC listen, or are they too far down the digital rabbit hole? Come August, the nation will find out whether Biden has what it takes to face the once and future Republican kingpin, Donald Trump, or if the Democratic Party will continue its internal death march with eyes wide shut.
