Outrage erupted in the Big Apple as transgender activists threw a fit over a Catholic Church in New York City cutting short a funeral for a late drag queen at St. Patrick’s Church. The deceased individual, who was known as “Cecilia Gentili,” was a well-known LGBTQ+ activist and atheist sex worker. Talk about a colorful resume, huh?

The historic church, located on 5th Avenue in NYC, was left in the dark about Gentili’s transgender identity until the day of the funeral. The archdiocese of the church blasted the ceremony as sacrilegious and accused it of being organized in a sneaky manner. Well, no surprise there – it must have been quite the shock for the church, like finding a vegan in a butcher shop!
Transgender activist, Ceyenne Doroshow of “G.L.I.T.S”, called for an apology from the church, claiming they have subjected the LGBTQ+ community to decades of mistreatment. Hey, the church has its beliefs, just like anyone else. But demanding an apology for upholding their values is a bit rich, don’t you think?
During the service, attendees were treated to some lovely insults hurled at St. Cecilia, the respected Christian martyr, and derogatory terms like “prostitute” gracing images of the late Gentili. Talk about a classy affair! And let’s not forget the attendees dressed in their skimpy attire, flaunting thongs and fishnets like it’s a beach party instead of a funeral. Stay classy, New York!
Frankly, mixing transgender activism with Catholic traditions seems like a recipe for disaster. Maybe next time, choose a different venue instead of trying to shock an institution that has been around for centuries. Just a friendly suggestion, not a commandment!
