But the eccentric billionaire isn’t just stopping at national politics; he’s now training his sights on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. With a war chest of $1.5 million, Musk is throwing support behind Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel, proving yet again that a little cash can go a long way in the political game.
The group Musk backs, Building America’s Future, has ramped up spending significantly in the Badger State, all to help Schimel capture an open seat on the highest court. While Wisconsin’s Supreme Court claims to be a nonpartisan entity, the truth isn’t very nonpartisan at all, especially when one candidate is a Republican like Schimel. He’s facing off against Democrat-aligned Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford, likely turning the campaign into a battle deserving of its own reality TV show.

Musk hasn’t just thrown a pile of cash at Schimel; he’s also been vocal about his support on his X social media platform. Recently, he weighed in on the importance of voting Republican to combat potential voter fraud—a hot button issue that continues to simmer on the underbelly of American politics. Musk’s remarks about the necessity of voting Republican align perfectly with Republican activist sentiments, as he invoked concerns surrounding absentee ballot drop boxes reinstated by the court following the election of liberal Justice Janet Protasiewicz.
The left is not taking Musk’s involvement lightly. Progressive activist Yasmin Radjy called Musk’s financial backing a clear indication that he recognizes the weight of this election, dubbing it crucial for the “new Trump era.” Apparently, in Radjy’s eyes, a billionaire backing a Republican candidate is indicative of a full-blown crisis for the left, which suggests that they might be a tad rattled when a business mogul throws his hat in the ring—money talks, doesn’t it?
As the electoral showdown heats up, Schimel is not shy about pointing out that Crawford is also receiving assistance from the kind of deep-blue donations that would make any patriotic American cringe. From George Soros to J.B. Pritzker, Crawford’s liberal funding sources resemble the who’s who of left-wing elites. In a campaign where the stakes are high and the funding is hefty, Schimel’s camp is unapologetically firing back, reminding voters that the real fight is against a tide of cash that seeks to drown out common sense conservatism in favor of radical, out-of-touch liberalism.
