House Judiciary Demands DOJ Explain Protection for Supreme Court Amid Threats

The House Judiciary Committee has decided that enough is enough after recent events have raised serious concerns over the safety of Supreme Court justices. With an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump raising the red flag, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Rep. Darrell Issa are demanding answers from Attorney General Merrick Garland. It appears they want to know what exactly the Justice Department is doing to protect those highest on the judicial hierarchy.

The request for a briefing by August 6 reveals just how serious the situation has become. The lawmakers highlighted the dangerous climate, fueled by the increasingly outrageous rhetoric coming from the left. Democratic threats to reshape the Supreme Court have become common parlance whenever the judges don’t rule in their favor. As if that’s not wild enough, there have been calls for impeachment against two staunchly conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. It’s almost as if the left has forgotten that judges are meant to be impartial arbiters of the law, not mere pawns in a political game.

Additionally, the infamous leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which single-handedly overturned Roe v. Wade, has proven to be alarmingly consequential. That slip-up didn’t just shift the legal landscape; it led a California man to venture to Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home with murder on his mind. It’s hard to believe such dangerous actions can stem from a political disagreement over legal interpretations.

Furthermore, leftist activists have taken to protesting outside the homes of conservative justices, making no effort to hide their intents. The latest count of those incidents is staggering, apparently aided and abetted by our own government refusing to uphold law and order. Recent revelations from Senator Katie Britt about a Justice Department memo discouraging U.S. Marshals from making arrests of protesters suggests that security measures are lacking to say the least. This has left many questioning if the administration is striving to protect judicial independence or is instead motivated by political calculation.

With judiciary safety hanging in the balance and no immediate response from the Justice Department, one can only wonder how much longer this charade will continue. Ensuring the safety of justices should not be up for debate or compromised by political whims. Every American should want the judiciary to operate free from intimidation, unless the goal is to bring about chaos—all under the pretense of justice. It seems like a blatant contradiction for a party that claims to uphold law and order while simultaneously turning a blind eye to the threats against Supreme Court justices.
