Just when you think things couldn’t get worse for the president’s son, U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi just stomped on any hopes his legal team had of dodging those federal tax charges. It looks like Hunter Biden might have to face the music in a trial if the charges keep marching forward.

In a courtroom showdown in Los Angeles, Hunter’s lawyers tried to pull every trick out of the hat to wiggle out of the felony tax indictment that has him in the hot seat. But Special Counsel David Weiss wasn’t buying it, and Judge Scarsi definitely wasn’t swayed by their flimsy arguments. The defense team cried foul, claiming the charges were politically motivated and based on Russian fairy tales.
The judge didn’t mince words, calling out the lack of evidence to back up the claims of partisan misconduct or immunity from past deals. Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, tried to spin a wild web of conspiracy theories involving pressure from former President Trump and House Republicans, but Judge Scarsi wasn’t having any of it.
As the specter of a June trial looms over Hunter Biden, the drama just keeps building. With his dad, Joe Biden, struggling to keep his head above water politically, the last thing they need is another scandal dragging them down.
