Omar’s reaction and the progressive defense

Omar led a congressional statement calling the assessment McCarthyite and said it unfairly targets activists and ordinary Cubans. If activists or organizations broke sanctions or acted as foreign agents, investigators should follow the facts and hold them accountable. If the State Department overstated the case, Democrats should stop calling the report a witch hunt and demand the evidence be shown. And if lawmakers will shrug off a 100‑page federal report because they don’t like the politics, that’s the problem — not the ink. Congress should schedule hearings, insist on documents, and let voters see what’s really going on.
