Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, made a blunt and necessary plea in his recent appearance on The Alex Marlow Show: Americans must stop letting antisemitism grow in the shadows and start pushing back with clarity and moral conviction. Leiter didn’t offer platitudes; he called for direct communication of facts and principles so that the lies and delegitimization campaigns against Israel lose their traction among ordinary Americans.
Leiter correctly named the modern mutation of Jew-hatred for what it is — anti-Zionism dressed up as policy critique — and warned that demonizing the Jewish state feeds the same old poison that has produced violence for centuries. Conservatives should welcome that plainspoken analysis: we don’t win debates by apologizing, we win by standing squarely on truth and refusing to normalize slurs against Israel’s right to exist.
He also drew a painfully personal line: accusations of “genocide” and other hyperbolic smears, Leiter said, are a kind of blood libel that distort reality and fuel attacks against Jews here at home. The ambassador’s own family sacrifice — he has publicly spoken about losing his son in the October 7 rampage — gives his charge extra weight, and should shame media and politicians who trade in grotesque exaggeration.
Leiter didn’t spare the domestic critics who cloak their hostility in phony “pro-peace” banners, calling out organizations that actively work to hobble Israel while claiming to represent Jewish interests. That kind of internal betrayal deserves to be exposed, debated, and rejected by every patriot who understands that Jewish survival and Western civilization are linked.
He also took aim at lawmakers who would tie Israel’s hands, rebuking senators and others who voted to restrict arms at a time when Israel faces organized, murderous enemies. Conservatives must treat that vote as a wake-up call: foreign policy without backbone invites catastrophe, and standing with Israel is not charity — it is common-sense national security.
If Americans care about safety on campuses, in synagogues, and on our streets, the response Leiter demands is simple and unapologetic: stop normalizing hatred, enforce hate-crime laws, and call out the double standards in elite institutions that excuse violence when it wears the right political label. This is a moment for Republican leaders, ordinary citizens, and patriotic institutions to show backbone and make it politically costly to traffic in Jew-hatred.
Leiter’s message is the sort of tough, moral clarity conservatives should embrace without apology — defend Israel, prosecute hate, and never let the mainstreaming of antisemitism become another accepted part of American life. Hardworking Americans know the stakes: when one ally or one minority is targeted, liberty for all is weakened, and silence becomes complicity.
