Another day, another case of Democratic hypocrisy. Just a few short years ago, Democrats were up in arms over the “overclassification” of government information that allegedly made it “impossible” to know what was actually top secret. Now, the same party is cackling with glee at the prospect of prosecuting Donald Trump for allegedly mishandling classified information.
Of course, it’s not just Trump who has been in hot water for this kind of thing. Hillary Clinton, along with others accused of mishandling classified information, has also alleged that government information is “overclassified” and poorly labeled. This is just a pathetic attempt to deflect from their own wrongdoing.
It’s clear that the Democrats are willing to bend the rules to protect their own, while at the same time hypocritically blasting those on the right who they deem guilty of similar behavior. This double standard is appalling and completely undermines the rule of law.
Perhaps most frustratingly, the Democrats appear to be completely blind to their own hypocrisy. They are perfectly happy to ignore their own crimes while pointing the finger at others in order to score political points.
The truth is, we need a saner system for classified information. But until the Democrats start holding themselves to the same standard as they hold their political opponents, it’s hard to take their calls for reform seriously.
