Reid Hoffman, Linked to Epstein, Funnels $1M to Boost Shaheen

New filings show a clear money trail that matters to voters in New Hampshire’s 1st District. LinkedIn co‑founder Reid Hoffman gave $1 million to a dark-money vehicle called New Engagement PAC. That PAC then moved big sums to New Leadership PAC, which has spent hundreds of thousands on independent ads helping Stefany Shaheen’s campaign. This chain of donations is the fresh development everyone in NH‑01 should be watching.

Money Trail: Hoffman → New Engagement → New Leadership → Shaheen

The FEC filings and public trackers make the path plain: a $1,000,000 check into New Engagement PAC in late August, a multi‑million transfer from New Engagement to New Leadership PAC, and independent expenditures from New Leadership backing Stefany Shaheen. In plain English, a rich donor funnels cash into a PAC, the PAC passes money to a leadership PAC, and that leadership PAC pays for ads for the candidate. It’s legal, but it’s also designed to blur who is really paying for the campaign push.

Why This Matters in NH‑01

This race is already one of the most expensive in state history because outside spending is pouring in. More than 70 percent of Shaheen’s itemized money comes from out of state, and now some of those big checks lead back to a billionaire whose past ties to Jeffrey Epstein have been reported. Add to that Stefany Shaheen’s former job under Dean Kamen — another figure whose documented interactions with Epstein have drawn scrutiny — and voters have a right to wonder whose interests the candidate represents.

Shaheen Owes Voters Straight Answers

Her primary opponent, Christian Urrutia, demanded she “come clean” about the Dean Kamen and Epstein connections. Conservative groups and the NRCC have been blunt, too. As NRCC spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole put it, “That’s not a coincidence; that’s a pattern.” If Shaheen wants Granite Staters to trust her, she should explain where she stands, why outside billionaires are bankrolling her race, and whether she will reject money tied to troubling networks.

Voters don’t need mystery tours or passive press releases. They need clear answers and accountability. When campaign cash gets routed through multiple PACs, transparency gets lost and influence grows. If Stefany Shaheen wants to run as a hometown champion, she should start by telling voters who is funding that home run. Until then, skeptical voters should assume the checks come with strings attached — and ask for the scissors.
