Sen. Cruz GRILLS Merrick Garland: Is Justice Dept. Politicized?

Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been vocal in his criticism of Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice (DOJ) for their refusal to prosecute protesters who showed up to the homes of conservative Supreme Court Justices in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Senator Cruz expressed his deep disappointment in the politicization of the DOJ and the FBI, citing disgruntled employees who believe the department has become the “enforcement arm of the DNC.” He then pressed Garland on why the DOJ has not brought even one case against any of the protesters who showed up to the homes of the Justices and published their personal information.

Garland attempted to defend his actions, saying he sent United States Marshalls to defend the homes of the Justices, but Senator Cruz cut him off, noting that sending Marshalls is not the same as prosecuting individuals. Garland then said the Marshalls on site get to determine whether to prosecute a case, but Cruz pushed back, arguing that Garland has the authority to prosecute.

It is clear that Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice have no intention of prosecuting those who have interfered in the private lives of Supreme Court Justices, despite the fact that a Judicial Crisis Network poll from July found that 61% of Americans believe protesters should not interfere in the private lives of Supreme Court Justices. This is yet another example of how the DOJ has become a tool of the Democratic Party, and it is shameful that they are unwilling to uphold the law and protect our nation’s highest court.

At Wednesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz made it clear that he is deeply disappointed in Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice (DOJ) for their refusal to prosecute protesters who showed up to the homes of conservative Supreme Court Justices in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Cruz noted how he had heard from several disgruntled employees who believe the department has become the “enforcement arm of the DNC” and pressed Garland on why the DOJ has not brought even one case against any of the protesters who showed up to the homes of the Justices and published their personal information. Despite Garland’s attempts to defend his actions, it was clear that he was unwilling to answer Senator Cruz’s question and had no intention of prosecuting those who have interfered in the private lives of Supreme Court Justices.

This is yet another example of how the DOJ has become a tool of the Democratic Party, and it is shameful that they are unwilling to uphold the law and protect our nation’s highest court. It is also concerning that Attorney General Garland and his team are so unwilling to listen to Republican voices and take action when it comes to protecting our nation’s judicial system. It is time for Garland and the DOJ to take a stand against those who seek to disrupt our nation’s judicial system and ensure that justice is served.
