Teacher ARRESTED After Refusing To Use ‘Correct’ Pronouns

Irish news outlet RTE reports that on Monday, teacher Enoch Burke was arrested after returning to school after being suspended for refusing to use the pronoun "they" while referring to a kid.

According to RTE, a court imposed a temporary injunction preventing Burke from teaching while the school conducts a disciplinary process against him for declining to speak in the preferred pronouns of a kid who identified as transgender, which he argued would contradict his Christian values. Burke went back to the school despite being warned not to, and as a result, he was caught and transported to jail.

According to the New York Post, Burke was quoted as saying, I am a teacher and I do not want to go to prison.  I adore my school, with its slogan Res Non Verba, 'Actions not words,' yet I am here today because I said I would not call a male a girl. I wish I could say, I was in my classroom this morning when I was arrested, but that's not the case.

According to RTE, he was initially kicked out of school on August 24, and the court order was issued on Friday when he continued going to school despite being told not to. He disobeyed the order of the court that prohibited him from instructing on Monday and told the court that complying with the order would go against his morals and values.

Burke, according to RTE, said that he loves his students and the subjects he teaches and that he did not want to go to prison, but that he also could not go against his conscience by assisting the youngster in their gender transition.

Just so there is no misunderstanding, this educator was sentenced to jail not for "misgendering," but rather for violating a court order. Helen Joyce, an author and commentator on transgender issues, argued that the court order that barred him from the school because he declined to use "they" for a male kid should never have been granted in her opinion. Sinister and ludicrous."

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Wilson's Hospital School for comment, but the school did not provide a response.
