It seems that for the Biden administration, trivializing threats to a former president isn’t a problem, but protecting the country certainly is.

A witness received it in a box months ago but only chose to open it after a failed assassination attempt on the former president on September 14. In the letter addressed to “the world,” Routh even dared to confirm his intentions, explicitly stating he was making an assassination attempt and offering a staggering $150,000 to anyone willing to complete the deed. It’s a surreal mix of morbid ambition and a complete failure of moral clarity.

The apparent double standard is glaring. If there’s any inconsistency in how the DOJ operates, it’s clearly reflected here. In this case, they compete for the headline with trumped-up accusations while ignoring serious threats that don’t fit their agenda.
Florida’s ongoing investigation into the attempted assassination is another hotbed of political drama. Governor Ron DeSantis has pledged the state’s commitment to investigate Routh for violations of Florida law, even as he claims that the federal cooperation is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. It seems clear that when it comes to protecting the Trump legacy, the government officials in Florida aren’t dropping the ball. At the same time, their counterparts in D.C. may be too busy indulging in their histrionics to take genuine action.
Trump himself has offered a note of gratitude to the divine for coming away unscathed not just once but twice, reinforcing his resolve to combat the forces that try to chip away at his legacy. The entire saga is a stark reminder of the threats facing the nation and the unfortunate reality that not all threats are taken seriously by those who ought to know better.
