Meanwhile, the Harris camp is apparently claiming that there’s still wiggle room in the negotiations, suggesting that they want to play fast and loose with the debate format to allow for “substantive exchanges.” If one is looking for subtlety, they certainly wouldn’t find it here. It’s almost as if the left is trying to prepare their candidate for a game of dodgeball instead of a debate.
With all this back-and-forth, it’s becoming clearer that the Democrats are more concerned with theatrical performance than with substance. Perhaps they have their own internal polls suggesting that letting Harris speak freely might expose her lack of coherent messaging. The worry must be palpable, given her previous struggles when the spotlight is on.
