In reality, the United States has carried out targeted strikes against Iranian military and infrastructure sites as part of an escalating conflict, not an act of total annihilation.
The president has been candid about the goal: degrade Tehran’s ability to threaten international shipping and American interests while pressing Iran to the negotiating table. Recent announcements from the White House and the Navy say mines in the Strait of Hormuz have been removed or detonated and that diplomatic channels are open even as military pressure continues.
American forces struck key nodes in Iran’s oil-transit network and military command and control — moves intended to blunt Tehran’s ability to choke global commerce or project power in the region. These were decisive, precision operations that used long-range missiles and airpower to hit military targets and maritime infrastructure, not carpet-bombing of civilian populations.
Don’t let the cable-news mob or clickbait pundits turn measured strength into melodrama. Conservatives should welcome clarity: the president ordered action when American lives and global trade were threatened, and then showed restraint when diplomatic openings appeared. The right question is not whether the button was pressed theatrically, but whether our policy achieved American objectives with minimal escalation.
Now Congress and the administration must lock in a strategy that converts battlefield success into lasting security: crippling Iran’s war-making capacity, tightening sanctions, and strengthening regional partners so Tehran cannot simply rebuild and resume its malign behavior. If the media wants a victory, demand one that endures — not cheap panic porn that inflates chaos and weakens resolve.
We must also honor the brave men and women carrying out these difficult missions and ensure they have what they need to finish the job and come home safely. Support for our troops is not optional political theater; it is the sober obligation of a free people who expect their leaders to defend them.
America showed the world that it still knows how to use power intelligently: strike hard when necessary, press for a deal when possible, and never cede the moral high ground to a murderous regime. For patriotic Americans who love liberty and prosperity, that steady mix of strength and prudence is exactly what we should demand from our leaders.
