In a corner store in California, a woman was attacked in what appears to be an unprovoked incident, as seen in surveillance footage. The victim, Kate Ryken, was purchasing chips in a San Francisco store when she was unexpectedly struck in the head. She described the attack as a sneak-attack and stated that she was being repeatedly hit on the head by the assailant.
The video from the store captured the moment when the attacker entered and began assaulting Ryken with a pink bag, following it up with punches to her head. Despite falling to the ground during the attack, Ryken was assisted by a cashier who intervened by removing the attacker from the store. It was reported that there was a bottle of Jack Daniel’s in the pink bag used during the assault.

The alleged assailant was identified as Jessica Blazee and was taken into custody for charges including assault with a deadly weapon, assault likely to cause bodily harm, and a parole violation. Ryken disclosed that she suffered bruises on her scalp due to the attack, including having her hair pulled during the incident.
In response to the incident, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins expressed concern about the impact of such random acts of violence on community safety. The district attorney emphasized the commitment to ensuring accountability for crimes and working towards restoring safety in all communities. Blazee is scheduled for arraignment, with prosecutors requesting her detainment until trial over concerns of public safety.
