Senator J.D. Vance, a Republican from Ohio, is demanding answers from the Biden administration regarding the role of a transgender individual named Sarah Ashton-Cirillo in the Ukrainian military. Vance wants to know if Ashton-Cirillo has ties to American intelligence services and if U.S. funds are being used to support their role in Ukraine. This comes after Ashton-Cirillo went viral for vowing to hunt down Russian propagandists in Ukraine.
In a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, Vance requested any information the U.S. government has on Ashton-Cirillo, who reportedly became a spokesperson for the Ukrainian military. Vance questioned whether Ashton-Cirillo is employed by the Ukrainian military and if they are compensated using American resources. He also wanted to know if Ashton-Cirillo is an American citizen or has any ties to American intelligence services.
Vance expressed concerns about U.S. taxpayer dollars supporting violence or the threat of violence against people for expressing their opinions. He criticized the idea that Ukraine, an ally of the United States, would threaten violence against anyone who opposes the war. Vance also pointed out that American journalists and even current presidential candidates have been falsely labeled as propagandists for Russia.

The Biden administration has not yet confirmed whether Ashton-Cirillo is indeed a spokesperson for the Ukrainian military. In the meantime, tensions between Ukraine and Russia continue to escalate, with Ashton-Cirillo warning that Russian propagandists and war criminals will be hunted down and brought to justice. The Kremlin, on the other hand, plans to raise the issue of Ashton-Cirillo and the threats against Russian journalists and officials at the United Nations.
As the situation unfolds, Senator Vance is determined to uncover the truth about Ashton-Cirillo’s role and whether U.S. resources are being used to support their actions. He believes that if Ukraine wants to hire individuals who threaten Americans and others for speaking their minds, they should not use American tax dollars to do so.
