Washington’s watchdog just sounded an alarm that every patriotic American should heed: the Department of Labor’s Inspector General, Anthony P. D’Esposito, announced a sweeping probe into alleged H-1B and PERM visa fraud and bluntly warned that this kind of fraud is fueling violent crime. The IG’s comments on national television make clear this is not a back-office paperwork problem but a national-security and public-safety crisis that demands immediate, no-nonsense action from our leaders.
The DOL Office of Inspector General has formally launched an investigation, saying investigators have found schemes where employers and labor brokers submitted fraudulent applications, coerced wages, and undercut American workers while exploiting foreign labor. The OIG has begun issuing subpoenas and is encouraging whistleblowers and exploited workers to come forward as part of a nationwide effort to dismantle trafficking networks and deceptive hiring practices.
Whistleblower leads have even put major players “in the chatter,” with names like Cognizant appearing as companies under scrutiny as investigators follow paper trails and suspicious certification practices. Conservative Americans who have watched our communities hollowed out by job-stealing schemes should not be surprised that corporate abuse and shadowy middlemen are finally being called to account.
D’Esposito didn’t mince words on television: much of the visa-related trafficking the OIG sees is tied to cartels and transnational gangs, and some of the fraud touches sectors as sensitive as medical facilities where public safety is on the line. This isn’t abstract policy arguing points in D.C. — it’s real criminals exploiting federal programs while honest taxpayers pay the bill and American workers lose their livelihoods.
For too long, weak enforcement and bureaucratic indifference allowed fraud to metastasize; the OIG’s recent press work and arrests show that a tougher, evidence-driven approach can and must be deployed across the board. If the government is serious about protecting Americans, it will back the IG with prosecutions, freeze illicit funds, and put the full weight of law enforcement behind rooting out the racketeers who use visas as cover.
Patriots don’t cower while criminals exploit our systems — we demand accountability. Congress and the administration must stop treating H‑1B programs like a corporate giveaway and start treating them like a carefully guarded national resource: enforce the law, secure the border, and restore jobs and security to the hardworking Americans who built this country.
