In a bold move of woke virtue signaling, an assistant undersecretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs tried to erase history by banning an iconic World War II photo from VA facilities. RimaAnn Nelson, seemingly blinded by political correctness, claimed the picture of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square after Japan’s surrender was somehow offensive. But fear not, patriotic Americans, Secretary Denis McDonough stepped in and put an end to this nonsense.
McDonough made it crystal clear that the historic photo will not be banished from VA facilities. Good call, Mr. Secretary! Erasing symbols of American triumph and unity is just plain un-American. Kudos to McDonough for standing up to the cancel culture mob and preserving a piece of our nation’s proud history.

The attempted removal of the iconic image was based on flimsy concerns about consent and suggested harassment – because apparently, celebrating the end of a world war is now controversial. It’s a sad day when honoring our brave men and women in uniform becomes a target of political correctness run amok. This is just another example of the left’s relentless crusade to erase our traditions and values.
Thankfully, common sense prevailed, and the photo will continue to hang proudly in VA facilities. The sailor and nurse in that picture represented the joy and relief felt by Americans when victory was finally achieved. It’s a reminder of the sacrifices made by our Greatest Generation and the unity that defined our nation in times of crisis. We must never forget our history, no matter how inconvenient it may be to the woke crowd.
So, thank you, Secretary McDonough, for standing firm against the Orwellian attempts to erase our past. Let this be a lesson to the cancel culture warriors – America’s heritage is not up for debate.
